  • About the Porsche 356 : The genesis of a legend

    The first car to bear the Porsche name, the 356 was born in 1948 in a small Austrian workshop. Designed by Ferry Porsche, son of the company's founder Ferdinand, it embodied the idea of a light, agile and well-built car.

    Equipped with a Volkswagen-derived rear-engine, it evolved rapidly to offer increasingly refined performance, particularly in its A, B and C versions. More than 76,000 of these cars were produced until 1965, laying the foundations of Porsche style: fluid lines, rear-engine drive and driving pleasure.

    Its versatility (at ease on the road as well as in races), reliability and timeless design make it a highly prized icon among collectors. James Dean's favourite model before the 550 Spyder, it remains one of the most restored and loved Porsches in the world. Its heritage lives on today in the DNA of the 911.

About the craftsman.

The cabinetmaker who carves wood into the bodywork of legends

Stéphane Carton shapes furniture in the same way that others restore classic cars: with precision, uncompromising attention to detail and an immense tenderness for timeless forms.

Son of a craftsman, he discovered the world of wood at a very early age in his father's workshop, where he developed a passion for the material and learned to understand and respect it. With a joiner's CAP and cabinetmaker's CAP in his pocket, he became an accomplished craftsman, renowned for his expertise.

In 2020, he founded Atelier Stéphane Carton to bring together his two passions: wood and cars. Bugatti, Porsche, Chevrolet... His collection of automotive art furniture, unique pieces in solid wood, leather and metal, are entirely handcrafted, from the initial sketch to the final prototype. He draws up his plans to 1/10th scale, studies the proportions and looks for the right lines, those that convey the soul of an exceptional model.

The result is a style that is retro, noble and daring, transforming each piece of furniture into an automobile on wheels, or almost.

The craftsman takes the greatest precautions to ensure the safety of your artwork:

• Secure packaging: The automotive furniture is wrapped in a soft cloth to prevent micro-scratches, then placed in a custom-made wooden box. This box minimises movement during transport.

• Insurance: Your artwork is fully covered by transport insurance. In the event of damage, the full cost will be covered by the insurance, at no cost to you.

What are my options for collecting the automobile desk ?

• Standard delivery by post.
