  • About the Maserati 4CLT : Italian elegance at the service of post-war performance

    Introduced in 1948, the Maserati 4CLT (for 4 cilindri testata) marked a turning point for the Trident brand.

    A direct evolution of the 4CL, it introduced a light-alloy cylinder head, a more rigid tubular chassis and an engine supercharged by a double volumetric compressor, delivering up to 280 bhp for a weight of just 630 kg. It shone in the early years of Formula 1, winning the Argentine Grand Prix and being driven by such legends as Juan Manuel Fangio and Luigi Villoresi.

    Admired for its streamlined lines, inclined front grille and agile compactness, the 4CLT embodies an era when ingenuity and mechanical daring took precedence over industrial means.

    Produced in just a few dozen examples, today it is one of the most sought-after Maserati racing cars, admired by collectors for its balance of style, technicality and rarity.

About the craftsman.

The cabinetmaker who carves wood into the bodywork of legends

Stéphane Carton shapes furniture in the same way that others restore classic cars: with precision, uncompromising attention to detail and an immense tenderness for timeless forms.

Son of a craftsman, he discovered the world of wood at a very early age in his father's workshop, where he developed a passion for the material and learned to understand and respect it. With a joiner's CAP and cabinetmaker's CAP in his pocket, he became an accomplished craftsman, renowned for his expertise.

In 2020, he founded Atelier Stéphane Carton to bring together his two passions: wood and cars. Bugatti, Porsche, Chevrolet... His collection of automotive art furniture, unique pieces in solid wood, leather and metal, are entirely handcrafted, from the initial sketch to the final prototype. He draws up his plans to 1/10th scale, studies the proportions and looks for the right lines, those that convey the soul of an exceptional model.

The result is a style that is retro, noble and daring, transforming each piece of furniture into an automobile on wheels, or almost.
