  • About the GT Draped : The Sensual Beauty of Grand Touring

    Born in post-war Europe, Grand Touring (GT) cars embodied a new vision of driving: fast, elegant, and comfortable enough to cross countries in a single breath. GT design reached its golden age between the 1950s and 1970s, with models like the Aston Martin DB4, Ferrari 250 GT Lusso, or Maserati 3500 GT setting new standards in luxury and performance.

    These cars were not just fast - they were sculpted, with long hoods, low profiles, and bodywork that flowed like drapery over power. Italian design houses like Pininfarina, Bertone, and Zagato played a key role in shaping GT elegance through fluid, uninterrupted lines. GTs were often coachbuilt in small numbers, making surviving examples highly coveted by collectors today.

    The concept of “draped” form became symbolic of restrained power - beauty hiding beast - and continues to influence modern GTs. Design icons such as the Jaguar E-Type or the BMW 507 captured the sensuality of motion through pure form. About the artist.

From Motorcycles to Automotive Sculpture: The Brilliant Trajectory of a Master Metalworker

Frédéric Girard discovered the world of metal shaping at just 15 years old, when he first encountered the age-old craft of coachbuilding. Instantly captivated by the raw beauty of metalwork, he began a lifelong love story with the hammer, the mallet, and the lead stake - traditional tools that soon became an extension of his hands.

He became a motorcycle racer at 18, competing in world endurance championships for over a decade. Speed, precision, and adrenaline shaped his worldview - and they continue to fuel the curves of every sculpture he creates.

Specialising in fine aluminium work, Frédéric developed a deep appreciation for both technical mastery and the purity of mechanical design. Influenced by the vibrant, custom automotive culture of the 1980s - from Chromes & Flammes he began designing custom fuel tanks, an artistic turning point that would mark the beginning of his journey as a sculptor. Today, each of his automotive artworks reflects not just exceptional craftsmanship, but the soul of motion and machine.
